Genius of Money

Chapter 15

Chapter 15 is about two differing views of money in America. Alexander Hamilton had a view that all things physical could be monetized such as labor, natural resources, and commodities. Emerson is an American transcendentalist who believed that even though American culture has changed throughout the years, "the quest for a moral understanding of money, its purposes and its effects on the human condition, remains." This chapter also talks about Hoffman's ideas of how money, in America, is such a strong force that it could be a religious force.

This chapter was very confusing and hard to interpret. After rereading it a couple times I am still not exactly sure what it was trying to say. I know that there are suppose to be two different views of money in America but there were so many names and I'm still not sure about the different views. This chapter was very boring and hard to understand, especially compared to chapter 8 that I read.

  1. Chapter 15: I didn't really understand about the two different views of money. But, I think all people view money as something that they can use to buy anything they want-- valuable.

  2. I totally agree that the book is hard to read because of the vocabulary. But I agree that money and religion are related to each other.

  3. I think although these two views are different, they can still co-exist. Money can help us to quantify the value of materials, and in return, it shapes human experiences and mentality.

  4. Ch. 15: Yes! Money is like a religion. Society forces to almost worship money. A good example of it is going to work. To be a good follower of money, one has to practice it everyday. I don't think money is all bad though. It can do a lot of good if it is in the right hands.

  6. I think that still all the different views are polarized.. Who loves who hates money...
We have not to be hawkish or Donal Trump... We could still work and make money but with positive outcomes
